These Nozu-tama were starting to get on Amu's last nerve in general but this one? Duckies? Really? Well, at least Yaya was having fun. The pink clad girl stopped to catch her breath.
As she watched, Yaya was trying to herd the people who had turned into small anthropomorphic ducks with lures made out of rubber duckies to keep them safe from the battle.
Rima was tryng to use her ropes to encircle the floating Nozu-chara, a little girl srrounded by a flock of cartoony looking non-anthropomphic ducks. The girl was shouting how if everyone was a duck they wouldn't be destroying duck ponds as she turned more and more people into ducks.
"Amu-chan! Duck!" Nagihiko called from the sidelines.
"did he really just say DUCK?" she grumbled as she dropped down. A large rubber duckie flew over her head. She couldn't tell if it was one of Yaya's or one of the Chara's. Either way would be bad. She had to get this child to calm down. Where were Tadase and Kukai? They could use the help!
Unbeknownst to them all, in the darkness of a lab in St. Canard, two evil villains were plotting, unaware of what the other was doing on the far side of the wall. When Liquidator showed up, startling Negaduck into a truly hilarious chain reaction, the end result was Negaduck's portal gun crashing into megavolt's generator, sending the machines flying apart.
The portal gun fired, but none of the villains were aware of it, because by luck or by fate - or by the whim of writers who think that none of these heroes have enough drama in their lives, one end of the portal opened... in Gos' closet.....
Gosalyn was completely unaware of the shenanigans taking place elsewhere, since she had her own troubles. Her father had grounded her... again... for playing hockey in the house. Where else was she supposed to play?! It's not like he'd let her play in the street with the other kids!
So unfair.
She stormed up to her room, slamming the door. "Ugh! He never lets me have any fun!" Throwing open her closet door, she hurls her hockey stick in and slams it shut again. It takes her a second to realize that there had been a swirling portal inside instead of the usual mess of clothes and sports equipment. She blinked, "Huh?" She opened the door again, more slowly this time. "Whoa! What's that?!" Looking around, she smiles to herself, "If Dad were here he wouldn't want me going anywhere near that thing. But it's in my closet, so it's fair game!"
Convinced her logic was sound, she strode right through that portal. This is a great idea, right?!
Yaya blinked when Gosalyn stepped into their world, then shook her head to clear it. Weird, looked almost like she came out of nowhere. "Come on," she called, waving to her. "Over here with the others..." A small hord of little rubber duckies came out to urge Gos towards the other gathered children.
Yaya dropped in front of her. She put her hands on her waist, just above the puffy pantaloons. "We're trying to protect you, that's what!" she said. "Hasn't anyone ever told you to listen when superheroes are talking?" she asked, trying for a serious scowl. Sadly for her, she's too cute and cutesy to look intimidating. She does look like a toddler nearly ready to tantrum, however.
"Hey!" Gosalyn puts her own hands on her waist, leaning forward to scowl at the girl, "I'm a superhero, too, yanno! Just 'cause I walked through a weirdo portal in my closet doesn't change that." She pauses long enough to look around them, still frowning, "Where the heck are we?"
Okay, that got her to stop and blink. "No way! You're a Charabearer too! Can you Chara Nari? We could use the help!"
She was ignoring the other question for the moment.
A girl in a pink cheerleader costume dropped down in front of them. "Yaya, less talking, more helping," she said tightly, sweating heavily. She held her pompoms out in front of them just as something was thrown in their direction. It hit the pompoms and flashed bright colours for a moment before the light faded.
Who were all these girls in their strange brightly colored costumes and weird words. She was about to question things further when that strange light flashed. She threw her arms up over her eyes as it flashed, finally starting to wonder how the heck she was going to get out of this.
"ENOUGH!" she shouted to the person floating over them, turning people into ducks.
"You like ducks, we get it! But look around you! These aren't your ducky friends, you're not making people like you by turning them into ducks." She gestured at the many people who would have been perfectly at home in St. Canard or Duckburg who were either wandering listlessly, blank eyed, or just sort of sitting or laying around, staring off into space.
"You're not helping them or making friends with them! You're taking away who they are!" She huffed a bit, then put her pom pom filled hands on her hips. "This isn't the way to make friends, and you know it."
The figure in the sky stopped and stared wide eyed at her, lip trembling. Tears started to fall down her face. The bright colours of her outfit dimmed and a large white X appeared in her hair. A giant black egg with an X on it swallowed her up.
The cheerleader girl nodded and thrust out her hands, pompoms vanishing. "There are lots of people who want to be your friend," she said, voice firm, as her hands made a heart shape in front of her. "But they have to be themselves to do it! Negative heart! Lock on!"
Light flowed from the pink girl channeled into a heart shape. It flowed over and around the black egg, enveloping it. The egg turned pale white with a small design and settled to the ground gently before dissolving, leaving perfectly normal human girl to slump to the ground. She was maybe all of seven.
Pale light settled over all the ducks except Gos, turning them back into humans, all of whom were blinking confused as if waking up slowly.
"AMU!" A girl in a ridiculous clown costume called out. She pointed into the sky where a small glistening egg hovered.
Nodding, Amu pushed off from the ground like she was jumping, and floated towards it.
"Amu! One of the kids didn't change back!" the girl dressed like a big baby cried, staring at Gosalyn.
She glanced back, and that was all the time it took for the egg to fly off and vanish. she sighed heavily and dropped back to the ground. With a small pop and a bit of light she no longer was dressed like a cheerleader, but was now in a School uniform. A small creature appearing beside her. "Why didn't she change back to normal, Ran?" she asked the small creature, who fluttered close to Gos to study her, curiously.

Gosalyn stared at the spectacle, completely gobsmaked. This was nothing like anything she'd seen back home!
And all of those ducks were really humans? What the heck was going on here? She was so entranced by the scene that she didn't notice that everyone was staring at her.
She slowly turns to look at everyone, giggling bashfully and waggling her fingers at them, "Uh, hi."
A number of other kids, all human, came running up. One seemed to be a boy with long purple hair, on the tall side for his age. The other two were a much shorter blond boy of about the same age, and a taller boy, who was a bit older.
The blond was panting hard, the other two moved like athletes, the one with purple hair a bit more fluid in his motions, the one with fly away brown hair more aggressive. It was the purple haired one who spoke.
"We were surrounded by rubber ducks, like someone had turned Dear Baby's attack against us, we couldn't get through. What happened?" His eyes flicked to Gosalyn.
"Embryo?" the blond one gasped, though his eyes were on her as well.
With a small pop sound and brief flash of light, the girl who had been in a clown outfit was now in a school uniform, a small clown like figure a handspan hgh appearing beside her shoulder, giggling as it hovered. "Her and gone," the little girl said. 'This one didn't change back." She looked up at the brown haired boy. "Walk me home." Not a request.
He made a face, then nodded. "Royal Garden?" he asked the others, who nodded.
Amu frowned a bit, watching them leave, then focused on the blond and the purple haired ones. "Everyone else changed back, not sure why she didn't. Um.... speaking of changing back..." her eyes flicked to the girl dressed like a big baby.
"Whoops!" Another pop and flash and the girl was now in the same uniform as the other little girl, a small baby like character floating by her head. "Sorry!"
The kid got down on one knee to be at eye level with Gosalyn. "Hello. My name is Fujisaki Nagihiko. Would you like to come to tea with us so we can try and figure out what happened?"
Well this was just all kinds of weird. Gosalyn looked around nervously, trying to figure out how the heck she was going to get out of there.
"Uhhh hi. I'm Gosalyn and I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I always look like this, I didn't get turned into anything!"
Yup, that portal was definitely gone. That's a problem. Though she's almost a little more concerned about the fact that her dad was gonna kill her when he found out about all of this.
"Hey, uh, have any of you seen a portal around here?"
She nodded, "Well yeah. Why would I lie about something stupid like that?" She rolled her eyes, clearly annoyed at the whole situation... or at least pretending to be to cover up how nervous she is. "And it was a big swirly thing in my closet."
"We are surprised and trying to understand," he said, calmingly. "We aren't accusing anyone of lying. But that portal doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard of."
Amu blinked, unsure, then winced. "I'm not sure how we get you home. But we'll keep trying to figure it out." Somehow. She didn't look very convinced, unfortunately.
"Of course we will," the long haired boy assure her. "Until then, maybe you could stay in the royal garden? We could fix up a bed for you so that you'll be comfortable."
She smiles a little, nodding. "Well, if you're gonna figure out how to get me home I can at least look around, right? So, yeah! Where's the royal garden?"
He closed his hand around hers with a warm smile. His free hand waved to his friends. "You guys head home. I'll see you all tomorrow."
"Nagihiko..."
He gave a warm smile. "I may not be much help in a fight, but I'm still a Guardian, right, Amu-chan?"
She hesitated then nodded. "Alright. We'll see you tomorrow then."
He smiled as his friends left, then turned to her. "Are you hungry? I can pick you up some food once I get you settled in," he offered, starting to walk away from the others.
She watched the others go, curious about why they seemed hesitant about her going with him. But she was a hero so she knew she could take care of herself!
She followed him... she didn't really have a choice since he was holding her hand. At the mention of food she grinned, "Yeah? Sure! What kinda food do you guys have in this place?"
It isn't you kiddo. It is the fact that he's the only one of the group without those small doll like people floating about.
He chuckled. "Well, not knowing what it is that you have in your world makes it a little difficult to know what you would find interesting." He was going to avoid any places that sold poultry, however, and was keeping her away from their store fronts. Which mean the walk was a little less than straightforward.
"There is a place not far from campus that makes a decent beef ramen." Also a duck and a chicken ramen, but he wasn't going to be mentioning that. He, of course, had no way to know that she was from a world that had a bull bad guy but still sold burgers... "There are a few sushi places around, if you enjoy fish." Being a duck she might. "There is a takoyaki stand that stays open late," he added, thinking. "And I think Yaya said there is a place not far from the school that sells burgers and ice cream."
